Dr. Robin Terranella | Naturopathic Physician and Phoenix Acupuncturist

I choose Naturopathic medicine because I believe that the human body has an innate healing ability. As a Naturopathic medical doctor and Phoenix acupuncturist, my focus is on educating my patients on how they can enhance this healing ability through the use of diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, and other natural therapies. My training and experiences in both conventional and alternative medical clinics have taught me that the most effective treatments are a blend of the best modern medical science and traditional natural medical approaches.I have to credit my patients for proving that the combination of eastern and western practice is a success.
Early in my practice and training I gravitated toward western medicine and continue to be intrigued by the physiological processes that western medicine reveals to us. As my practice progresses, I realize the importance of personalized medicine. This was first apparent during my internships in conventional medical clinics. My conclusion is that while it’s important to have precise accurate diagnosis and treatment, an essential part of the equation is the doctor-patient relationship. When a doctor has a solid, trusting relationship with his/her patient, s/he has the ability to treat the whole person. This becomes more and more evident as you explore individualized medicine and relationships with patients. You begin to realize that there is more to medicine then physiological processes. This discovery pushed me to learn more about the energy inside our bodies, and the non-physical aspects of medicine. This is why I choose to go to acupuncture school as well.
My training in holistic medicine, specifically acupuncture, at Wu Hsing Tao School has allowed me to understand that the spiritual and mental aspects of our being are best treated and supported through the wisdom of Eastern Medicine. Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of Chinese medicine and it has been used for thousands of years by acupuncture physicians to prevent and treat many illnesses. Acupuncture is a system of natural medicine concerned with the movement of energy inside your body, called Qi (pronounced "chee"). The free flow of this Qi is critical to establishing and maintaining your good health. Becoming a holistic medical doctor has truly allowed me to appreciate these non-physical dimensions of the person. As one of the respected naturopathic physicians and phoenix acupuncturists, Dr. Robin Terranella serves his patients by offering both eastern and western medicine treatment options.
